The CAESAR Group is primarily composed of former employees of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate who have undertaken a retiree-staffed technology transfer function. During the group’s AFRL careers they heavily engaged one of AFRL’s primary research partners – academia. Through managing university research grants and mentoring of AFRL’s visiting professors and college student interns, the group’s members have gained a personal understanding of the value of forming partnerships with educational institutions. One of our group’s members has even crossed-over into academia by becoming, concurrent with his AFRL function, a by-appointment professor at multiple colleges and universities and has accumulated 30 years of academic experience. During that time, he leveraged his knowledge of AFRL’s real-world research to enrich his students’ learning experience.
The CAESAR Group is thus equipped to expose entrepreneurial students to the wealth of AFRL’s publicly-released technical reports and patents. Outreach to educational institutions is primarily aimed at: technology-focused MBA programs, undergraduate STEM programs, and MBA Technology Clubs. Our role in this outreach is to offer students with business and technology backgrounds a means to transform AFRL’s publicly-released research into business ideas.
